Day 13

Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him, rejoicing in His inhabited world, and My delight was with the sons of men. Proverbs 8:30-31
These two little verse are the climax of a section of poetic Scripture that speaks about the emotions int he heart of the Godhead as They made the worlds ready for the introduction of human beings onto the scene. Today we want to focus on the delightful, joyous relationship between the Father and the Son as They made preparations for the creation of people for Their own pleasure.
The Person speaking in this passage is identified as "Wisdom," but it becomes clear that the speaker is really the second Person of the Trinity, namely, the Son who would come to Earth as Jesus Christ. He was the "master craftsman," the designer of the creation, and the text says that He was daily the delight of God. The Father's full pleasure is int eh Son; everything about Him pleases the Father, for He is the exact image of the divine nature (see Hebrews 1:3).
The Son is pictured as "rejoicing always" in the Father's presence; this is a delightful term that is best translated "to be at play." The creation of the universe, in preparation for the creation of human beings, was the product of a delighted Father and a playful Son who had a wonderful plan for Their own enjoyment. Let your heart consider the reality of an eternally glad God whose pleasure is fully focused on His Son, and on Their mutual plan of having an eternal relationship with you and me!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask You to reveal the Father's heart to me today. Grant me just a small sense of the Father's pleasure in His Son, and in the work They have done together to create a people for Themselves. I long to know the joy that burns in God's heart, and so I ask for Your help. Thank You.
